Our clear B-72 undercoat marking solution is a mixture of B-72 dissolved in acetone (15-20% solids content). It dries fast and has excellent adhesion to most surfaces. You can easily write on the dried solution within a few minutes with Pigma Pens, Zig Opaque Marking Pens or with most pigmented inks. We do not recommend the use of this material as a topcoat. B-72 marking solutions dissolved in acetone can redissolve both the undercoat and most ink used for labeling.
MARKING SOLUTION INFO: Marking solution undercoats containing acetone are convenient because they are fast drying, making them ready to label within just a few minutes. The disadvantage of marking solution topcoats containing acetone, is that they will redissolve both the marking solution undercoat and the ink used for labeling. Marking solutions containing acetone may even damage the item being marked, if the item has a protective finish.
Marking solutions made from low aromatic solvents are slower to dry (compared to acetone based marking solutions). They may take from 5 to 10 minutes to dry. The advantages of them are that they are safer to use and remove as either an undercoat or topcoat, as they are less likely to disturb most labeling inks or protective finishes.
