Rottenstone is comprised of decomposed limestone and is also used as a polish and antiquing abrasive. Rottenstone is a softer, and thus finer, abrasive than Pumice. Both pumice and rottenstone can be used in conjunction with linseed oil and a felt pad to produce an exceptionally fine hand rubbed finish on most finishes.
