Surface Thermometers

TempTestr IR Thermometer

We are confident you will find many uses for your handheld noncontact thermometer. Compact, rugged, and easy to use - just aim, push the button, and read current surface temperatures in less than a second. You can safely measure surface temperatures of hot, hazardous, or hard-to-reach objects without contact.

Infrared thermometers measure the surface temperature of an object. The unit’s optics sense emitted, reflected, and transmitted energy, which is collected and focused onto a detector. The unit’s electronics translate the information into a temperature reading which is displayed on the unit. In units with a laser, the laser is used for aiming purposes only.

The emissivity of most materials and painted surfaces have an emissivity of 0.95 (pre-set in the unit). Inaccurate readings will result from measuring very shiny or highly polished metal surfaces.

The TempTestr IR is best used at a distance of less than 4 feet. The measuring spot that this unit actually measures grows in size the greater the distance you are from an object to be measured. Always measure as close to the area to be measured as possible ( 6" to 12" is best). At 6" the measured spot is 1" in diameter, at 12" in distance it's 2" in diameter, and at a distance of 24" it is 4" in diameter.

The TempTestr IR is available with or without a laser pointer that helps you to pinpoint the spot to be measured. We highly recommend the unit with the laser based on our own testing and use.
